When I purchased the set of 30 (26 + 4 additional vowels) jumbo alphabet flashcards (11" x 14"), I had greedy etsy visions dancing in my head. Oh, sure. I could sell them as a set easily, but I thought it'd be more fun to spread the love, offering them up singly. Not only would I make a little bit more money, but it'd be fun to see which words/letters sold quickly.
Naturally, I would've bet BANK on the word "NEST," and of course it was the first one to go. Second was "QUEEN," and third was "MILK." All make sense to me. I would've bet one of the more patriotic ones would've been next, or possibly some of the animal ones. But, no! Want to guess what was the 4th to sell? Any takers?
FOX, and I'm willing to wager that it's because I used the word "foxy" as an etsy tag keyword. Oh yeah. All that useless 80s slang is coming in handy. Now I just have to figure out how to make "overalls" and "xylophone" equally alluring. No matter what, I solemnly swear that whichever is the remaining last flashcard standing will be proudly framed and displayed in my home. Said promise will most likely bite me in the "ice cube," but I pinkyswear.

You are forgetting how close you are to Middleburg, that is their town logo. You could most likely sell a hundred foxes, that was a great one, if you have any more you should copy and frame them.

Those giant flash cards are like gold. I had an incomplete set of The Giant Alphabet cards from the 60's, and sold them as singles at my booth in November. I wish I had a thousand of those cards, cuz I had more customers look at those than anything else.

This was in one of the etsy forums. I had to pass it along.
You (and your sister) (and Fresh Vintage Colleen) were the first people I thought of...

I went to the local Goodwill Outlet on Saturday and had to fight to get into the bins... and sitting at the bottom were some lovely alphabet flash cards... 2 full alphabets plus a few extra. They letters are a glittery gold. Reminded me of this post and had to share! :)
Also, in reply to your post above - hope the junking picks up for you! I've been having to settle with Goodwill and Salvation Army to get even a few things.
